Fail nail :(

I am so annoyed with this post that I don't even know what to say. I picked up Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Lava at Target not long ago. It's a GORGEOUS color. All shift and shine. Definitely needs a layering though, I can't even guess how many coats it'd take to get it to bottle-level awesomeness. When I read the name, I thought it'd be awesome as a watermarble with black...make it look like a lava flow!

No.

It didn't really work. I mean, it doesn't look bad. But it looks nothing like I wanted. The Lustre Shine does not spread. AT ALL. Nor does it allow you to marble it. Plus, it eats into the black, so instead of crisp lines you get shimmery all over. I was so discouraged by this. I've been stumped lately anyway, so this definitely did nothing to help me.

Colors Used:
Sally Hansen Lustre Shine in Lava
China Glaze in Liquid Leather
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Back to the Fuschia

So much shine. So much fail.

On my right hand, I didn't even bother with the marble. I just freehanded some diagonal stripes with the same colors. But the cards were against me anyway. My topcoat, Poshe, is on its way out. It dried gloopy and miserable. I think I blame the weather a bit. It's been 80%+ humidity here lately...maybe thats it. This manicure made it less than 24 hours.

My topcoat was acting like an ass, and I had cotton and cat hair stuck in my nail.  I should have just gone back to bed.

only two of the five nails marbled. On my thumb, the polish didn't even spread enough to cover the whole nail.

  1. Oh well don't be so hard on this mani, the water marble looks great IMO! I really like the cool effect of the shine all over!

  2. I really like how it turned out. I understand the feeling of rage when you have something specific in mind and it just doesn't work, though. I've seen stamping that looks like water marble. It looks like the plate is BM-320. You could give that a try and see if you get crisper lines that way!
