Look of the Day: Attempting Fall Trends for Daytime

Fall is the season of new, more wearable (for me), makeup trends. One of the big trends for fall seems to be gray eyeshadow. And happily, it seems to be just a nice wash of color, as opposed to the complex smokey eye looks that I cannot seem to master. I decided to give a couple of things from the Makeup Geek Fall Trends video a try, and I'm super happy with the result!

Products Used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Urban Decay eyeshadow in Mushroom (from the Mariposa Palette)
Urban Decay eyeshadow in Skimp (from the Mariposa Palette)
Covergirl Liquiline Blast eyeliner in  Black Fire
Revlon Photoready 3D Volume mascara in Blackest Black
Youngblood Mineral Primer
Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in 01
Nyx blusher in Taupe
Wet'n'Wild lipstick in Sugar Plum Fairy

ahhh, the "growing it out" stage
My favorite part of any haircut :/

What I did:

After priming, I applied Skimp in the inner corners so that I would appear less dead. Then I patted Mushroom all over my lid, blended it a bit outward, and then applied a tiny bit under my lower lashline as well. I tightlined my eyes with the Covergirl liner, which is waterproof by the way. It's actually pretty good for tightlining...I only had a little melting at the end of the day. Followed up with a couple of coats of mascara...though I think I could do more? I'm always afraid of looking "too made up" and I end up not going far enough. You'd think someone with green hair would be less afraid of color!

For the lips, I applied a bit of balm and used the Sugar Plum Fairy as a stain. That stuff makes a brilliant stain! If I apply it full power, my lips will still be pink the next morning.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased. Gray is hard for me to wear and not feel like a dweeb.
