Ipsy Bag: February 2014

My Ipsy Bag arrived! Unmolested and intact, thank the gods. Since it is February I was expecting a floofy, girly bag...thankfully they took a slightly different direction. These products are all of a more feminine palette, but blessedly not superduper pink and fluffy.

 The Goodies:

City Color Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon
PopBeauty Plump Pout Mini in Peony Petal
Tini Beauty Eyetini Cordial Cream Shadow + Base in One in Spiced Rum
Zoya Odette
NuMe Intense Renewal Mask

Hand Swatches

shadow tint, lip gloss, and blush over bare skin
and in my lightbox

Zoya Odette

PopBeauty Plump Pout in Peony Petal

 My Thoughts:

PopBeauty Plump Pout
This stuff, according to Ipsy is a "...plumping pout perfector combines the high-shine of a lacquered gloss with the long wear of a stain..." and I don't completely disagree. While I am not sure why they decided to add "plumping" to the name (it does not plump) it does shine and feel like a gloss, though still giving a decent amount of color for a long time. Six hours later, I still have a noticeable amount of color on my lips, though I do feel like I need a bit of balm at this point. The color is a great pink for everyday, and coupled with its wear-time, I think this one is a definite win.

City Color Be Matte Blush
I was actually kinda stoked to be getting this in my bag. I have been trying to get over my fear of blushes and branch out into different colors. I would never have picked such a melony-coral color for myself, but I actually really like it. Its decently pigmented, though folks used to higher-end blushes might not be as impressed as I am. I think this would be a good blush for a beginner to try...especially since it is only $2.99. The compact is the nearly the size of my palm, and for such a low price, it is definitely worth buying as well. Hooray for another win!

Eyetini Cordial Cream Shadow + Base
This stuff does not budge. At all. I tried it on the back of my hand (above) and it was still slightly there in the morning. It applies really thick, but is very easily blended out with a finger. I think this stuff would be a great base for my Naked 1 (or maybe even the Naked 3) palette, as it has the color I got would fit perfectly in with that color palette. The price is a little high at $18, but its a generous sized tube and you only need a tiny bit to cover your whole lid.

Zoya Odette
Odette is from the Naturel Collection, which Amanda reviewed here a while back. She didn't think it was SFW, but I definitely do. Its a lovely muted purple that is at once bold and conservative. The husband called is the "sophisticated granny" color. I wouldn't have picked it for myself, but I won't be kicking it out of bed.

NuMe Hair Mask
Really, Ipsy? I just cut my hair as short/shorter than it was the day I was born...and you send me a hair mask? Talk about timing, guys. I might try this out on the front of my hair, since it has been bleached to oblivion for the last three years. But any review I could give on its efficacy is slightly useless, since I don't have enough hair to decide if it heals/repairs damaged hair. I might send this to Amanda.

And now, since I actually got stuff I can work with this month...my Ipsy Face!

I have a confession: in an effort to hurry and get
ready, I used mascara as my brow product.

this one is my favorite. Who knew I couldn't cross
both of my eyes?

The things I used, in addition to my Ipsy stuff:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance, because creasing sucks
Clump Crusher Waterproof Mascara in Black
MAC BB Cream in Fair
Starlooks Kohl Pencil in Obsidian
Laura Mercier Highlight 01
Nyx blush in Taupe

yup, my phone is a Tardis. I was minutes away from
picking up Spawn #1, and didn't want to lose track of time.

    1. For a gloss, it actually does pretty well. the shine lasts like most...but the color lasts a good few hours. I've worn it a few times since.

  4. The reason it did not plump is most likely due to the fact the ingredient in it are not what is listed on the full size packaging or the website. In fact the full size packaging has a completely different set of ingredients than the website.
