Frankenpolish: Coastal Winter

Winter is looming, dark and bleak and cold...and happy. I actually love winter. I love jackets, scarves, gray skies, fireplaces, hot chocolate, and wool socks. Unfortunately, we don't get the traditional snowstorms or icicles. We get cloudy skies and slate blue waters. Such is life on the coast. I decided, with my new franken-obsession, that I would make myself a color inspired by what I see most days.

I decided to name it Asilomar, after a local beach that I don't visit near enough. It is the only beach in the immediate area with a moderately pretty name. Del Monte doesn't really ring my bell...sorry. Plus, this particular beach is beautiful. You've got waves and sand, plus tide pools and rocks...all without the other side of the bay interfering with your views. I really do love it.

not quite asilomar, but close

To make this shade, I added nearly half the white to a clear top coat. Then I slowly added purple, testing as I went. Once I got it to the right shade of lavender, I added the blue-gray to cool it down and gray it out even more. Then, because shiny, I added the entire mini of spectraflair. I think it definitely needs more. But I kinda like how subtle it is, so I don't want to add too much.

needs more shinies!

I'm pretty much in love with frankenpolish. This really might lead to me making an order of polish-making supplies very soon. What do you think? Would you buy something like this?

  1. I LOVE IT. That is a seriously impressive franken, I definitely don't have anything like it in my collection.
