A Love/Hate Relationship

I finally jumped on the textured polish bandwagon. Sally Hansen came out with "Sugar Coat" polish. I assume it's new, but you'd have to check with the PGS Offical Searcer-Outer-of-New-Things (thats Amanda, by the way). I saw it at Target the other night while I was out shopping with my favorite enabler, and I grabbed a bottle.

I kinda love it. It looks so...different. I love the look of the texture. It's matte, but reflective. It's got depth and character. I don't even hate the blue, which is the oddest thing I've ever encountered. If they made a good fuchsia or a red, I'd be all over that shit.

I kinda hate it. It's gritty. Like sandpaper or a cheap emery board. I had to file the free edge a bit just to be able to live with it. And god forbid you need to fold laundry while wearing it...that is a decidedly unpleasant experience. There is also no eye scratching or contact lens wearing while wearing this stuff. You'll put your eye out, kid.

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in Razzle Berry

This screams "Cookie Monster" to me.
There might be some kid-friendly nail art in my future.

  1. It looks quite nice in the pictures, but I know just what you mean. I can't decide if I like these textured polishes or not!

    1. I love the look. But I still have regular housewifery stuff to do, and this stuff feels awful when folding laundry.

  2. CVS has more of their colors than Target. I'm still kicking myself for not getting the white.
They have a plumberry color that's supposed to look fuschia maybe? I think they do have red too

    1. There was a fuschia color at target, but it was pretty muted and dusky looking.I'm going to CVS tonight, so I will definitely look for the white...and a red.

  3. Hahaha! To be honest, Nichole, I hated this stuff until I had it on my nails. Then I just... fell in love! It does look gorgeous to me, maybe it's my side of the screen! It's a beautiful blue, and the texture is very nice ^^ it's a winner here!

    1. Honestly, I agree. It's so neat to look at, but if you have to do anything while it's on the nail...ugh it bugs me. I'm really funny about texture though. It's why I dont like a lot of glitter polishes.

  4. I absolutely love the Barry M textureds I have - but I also have to file the ends of them haha! The texture particles hang over the edge and then they catch on things and it irritates me - but file it down and I'm in love! I think it's such an unexpected trend for nails - I can't get enough of it!

    1. I had to take a nail file to it too. The lack of topcoat made me feel so weird...I wonder if a bead of SV along the free edge would help that?
