My Picks from Sinful Colors Break Away

The mystery display! I'm sorry to do this to you, but this is the one that almost no one can find.  Most Sinful Colors displays wind up at either Walgreens or Rite Aid, sometimes both.  Not Break Away.  It never turned up in any major chain.  It was first spotted at a Meijer and only seems to have been carried by regional supermarkets and drugstores.  I found it at one of my local Wegmans supermarkets, but not the other two I visit.  What's worse is that I'm very late with this post.  I bought these polishes at the end of April, but the display started showing up early March in some stores.  Between its random dispersal and my serious lag, you have almost no chance of finding it.  Sorry!  The worst part...new shades.  There were three, but I didn't get Anemone or Over It.  The other shades are all from previous collections, but I don't think any are currently core anywhere.  Again, sorry!  They're really pretty too....

Open Seas is an almost pastel dusty aqua cream.

The formula was surprising for something so close to pastel.  It's almost a one coater, but I had to use two for evenness.  I should have given it a moment between coats.  The imperfections are entirely my fault.  This isn't within my typical color range, but I really like it!  It's soft and has a springtime feel, but without looking like Easter.  There's good news and bad news if you're lemming Open Seas.  It's a very close dupe of OPI Mermaid's Tears, as pointed out by ALU when both were new two years ago.  So the good news is that you can find a very similar polish, but the bad news is it'll cost more.

Hey, You! is a kelly green cream.

Of the three new shades in this display, Hey, You! is the only one I got.  Two coats here too.  The formula's a bit watery as Sinful Colors creams go, but that's not surprising since it's fairly similar to Exotic Green.  I compared the two to see for myself.

I-Hey, You! * M-Exotic Green * R-Hey, You! * P-Exotic Green

They're far from dupes, but they're not drastically different.  Hey, You! is less saturated and lighter.  Of the two, I prefer Exotic Green.

Daredevil is hot pink with a glowing pink shimmer.

I rarely admit this, but sometimes I kinda wish I liked pink.  This is an outstanding color!  Wow!  The formula's good too.  This is three coats, but I didn't see the brushstrokes I was expecting.  It's really beautiful.  Just look at it glow...

Gorgeous...but...not for me.  It's got a new home with Nichole and I hope she loves it as much as I think she will.  I get scolded sometimes for not liking pink, since I wear it so well.  I just...I can't do it!  It's a shame, but it's true.  I just don't like pink.  If ever there was a hot pink that could win converts, Daredevil is it...but...no.  Oh well....one more photo, this time under an LED light.

Fly Away is a bright sky blue cream.

One coater!  They've done similar colors before, and I'm sure they'll do them again, but I'll buy pretty much every slight variation of this kind of color that Sinful Colors puts out.  I am a sucker for blue creams.  As much as I really like it on my fingers, I love it on my toes!  I have awful feet, so that's as much of them as you'll ever see of them.  The brightness of the blue really compliments the fishbelly whiteness of my feet.

Bottom line:  If you can find Break Away, and that's quite an if, I'd say you should get Daredevil.  Weird that my top pick here is the one I passed along to Nichole, but it really is the standout.  Open Seas is my second pick, but you don't need it if you have Mermaid's Tears.  Fly Away is beautiful (but dupey) and Hey, You! is a close cousin of Exotic Green.  Still, I'd recommend all four if you can A) find them and B) don't have anything too similar.  No formula issues with any of them.

More Sinful Colors tomorrow!  See you then!

    1. I always looked at pics of Mermaid Tears and wasn't sure if I'd like it. That's part of what I love about SC, branching out with colors I might not normally try.
