China Glaze Awakening

There was a sale. Things happened. I got some polish. Sally's Beauty Supply, I am powerless against your charms.

This is an old one. Near as I can tell, it came out way back in 2011. I have no idea why I didn't buy it then, but I can promise that I am regretting that decision now. This is the perfect color. Rosy, plummy, goldy, awesome...y. At a certain angle, there is a lovely orchid-like shift. This would be a great alternative to the color of the year, if you find that plain purple just doesn't work for you.

My only problem with this color is that it was a little brushstrokey. After two thin coats applied with the brush, I blotted an additional coat on to bring on the sparkle. It definitely brings the gold to the front, which I kinda like. I need eyeshadow and lipstick, and possibly blush, in this color.

  2. Yeah.....I ended up getting 8 polishes with that sale. The good news is I spent less than $30.

  4. I picked this one up as well. So pretty.
I was lucky and able to snag a few lemmings on clearance, and they honored the BOGO price. And I might hit up the sale one more time.. you never know what might land in my basket.

    1. keep an eye out for the OPI Gwen Stefani collection. The website has it listed for 50% off, and my local Sally's honored that in-store.

  5. I have a feeling Awakening is older than 2011. Pretty sure I recall wearing it in the early to mid 2000s, along with another old CG fave, "Rainstorm". Back then it was old formula and didn't dry as quickly; just bought a new bottle and it's better now. Three days of wear and no chips at all, just minor tip wear--and I'm rough on my nails. Amazing. Used with Opi pink base coat and Seche Vite.
