Cult Nails Blaze

Having to wear "SFW" polish has its ups and downs.  One of the best ups is the excuse "I can probably wear this to work."  It's a great rationalization for pretty much any nude, neutral, soft gold, or sheer shimmer.  Without that line of thinking, I'm not sure I could have justified my order from Cult Nails' $3 clearance sale right at the start of my low-er-ish buy last month.  I wound up spending only $60 on polish, and half of that was this epic clearance haul.  Most of my order had the SFW justification, and I'm making my way through them faster than I usually do for stuff that isn't new.  I topped a...um...NSFW?...gradient with Deception and wore Mazo to work with complete confidence.  Blaze turned out to be so nice that I swatched it twice!

Blaze has gold and copper microglitter in a clear base.

If you think about it, SFW is a bit vague, isn't it?  That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!  I needed some serious sparkle that I could still wear to work and this is ideal!  Sure, it's not the most conservative thing ever, but for something this glittery it still looks pretty subtle unless you're right up near it.  This is two coats over two coats of my "mannequin hands" nude, Revlon Trade Winds.

I love microglitters like this.  They twinkle and glow with every movement.  Even typing with one on can be a little distracting.  I've been wearing this combo for a few days now and it's been a great pick-me-up.

Blaze reminds me very strongly of China Glaze I Herd That, but without the holo glitter.  I actually like it more than I Herd That in some ways.  It's not as dense, so it layers much better.  It also applies more smoothly and evenly.  The more shades of Cult Nails I try, the more impressed I am.

I saw a whole other side of Blaze when I wore it over a darker base, L'Oréal Owl's Night.

I derped and completely forgot to make any notes on this one, but I think this is one coat of Blaze.  Something about this combo looked almost silvery at some angles.

I wish I could wear this combo to work too!  I love the depth it has over a darker background.

I can see myself getting a lot of use out of Blaze.  I wanna try it over a red in the fall and I'll absolutely be wearing it over Trade Winds again!

  1. I'm so glad to see you branching out into some non-mainstream brands ! This color looks great. Glad it's sfw too ! Do they actually do a nail check to make sure people don't cross the line ?

    1. Thanks! :) I'm the only one on the security team at my site who wears polish (there's only one other woman and men aren't allowed), and the decision is up to field inspectors. I pretty much have to wear stuff that an inspector wouldn't notice, since the inspections are random.
