Darling Girl Cosmetics Sampler Haul

More indie madness today! I am slowing getting round to trying all of the samplers. (I'm trying not to just swatch-and-stash these things. I want to really get some use out of them, to get a true feeling for the quality.) Today's favorite is Darling Girl Cosmetics. I grabbed another blog sampler from them a while back, and once again I am in love.

The sampler came with a sticker and a pin, so I'm happy there. (I collect stickers) I got five sample bags and two small pots. I selected mostly duochromes, because...well, duochromes. The quality here is amazing. I did notice that applying them wet kinda mutes the shift, at least on my eyes. I actually don't mind that, because then you get two shadows for the price of one. I might have to buy full sizes of everything I got.

You'll have to forgive my swatches. The sun has been finicky lately. It comes out, I drag all my stuff out and put my camera together...and the fog rolls in. Ah, coastal summers. Regardless, I think I caught the shift pretty well in the eyeshadows. The blush did not swatch well under CFL bulbs though. Such a shame, because I think I might have found my "everyday" color.

I need to investigate and test further, but I am thinking that Tank Taupe might make a great contour color. It's quite cool, and can be applied sheerly or built up with ease. It is fast becoming one of my favorite crease shades for eye makeup. This might even make a suitable brow color, since taupes are generally pretty universal. I love a good multitasker.

Time for swatches! I used Urban Decay Primer Potion on the left, and nothing on the right. I was quite impressed with the opacity of elvin magic and bubbles, they barely needed primer. The others need it to show true, which honestly is fine. Who wears makeup without primer?

And now my face! I used Brocade and Tank Taupe, plus a bit of my shiny new Lorac Pro Palette. I am so impressed with how easily Brocade blended out. There was little-to-no fallout and I felt like the color was pretty true. Please ignore my hair. It's getting long and weird.

    1. I'm trying not to lose myself to Fyrinnae! Because there is so much going on in the indie makeup world (how did I not know about these brands?) I'm trying to test out the smaller/lesser known stuff first. But Fyrinnae is calling me, with that sparkly siren song...

    1. I was looking at Meow Cosmetics, strictly for the foundations though. Now I have to go re-evaluate my wishlist there.
