Review: Stila Stay All Day Lipstick in Firey

I seem to be on a red kick these days, especially with lip colors. For Mother's Day, the "kids" got me a tiny haul from Stila (there was a 40% off coupon. I am no longer buying things without a coupon) and I had my heart set on one of the Stay All Day lipsticks. I had originally wanted Beso, but it was sold out. I decided to take a chance on Firey, and I am so glad I did!

This stuff is crazy. It is ultra matte, long wearing, and surprisingly comfortable for a matte. It has a doe-foot applicator, which is challenging for noobs like me. I ended up applying it to the center of my lips, and then getting it into the right spots with a brush. I also applied some random red lip liner underneath, and clear around the edges. I don't wear bright colors often, and I was taking no chances. Then I gave it a proper road-test.

I applied it around 3:45pm, after lining the hell out of my lips. It doesn't take long to set, so no need to be super careful or make silly faces while it dries. Then I left the house. I had a glass of water, a frosty beverage from Starbucks, some snacks, and Taco Bell for dinner. Even my best lipsticks would give up after that much abuse...

But not these. There was some wear, sure. Taco Bell is not known for being not-greasy. But before the tacos, there was hardly an indication that this stuff had been on for 4 hours. I'm quite impressed with how it looks even in the picture below. I bet some smushing could blend it together a bit, though only if I did it immediately after eating. This stuff does not like oils/grease. By the time I took this picture, the lipstick was set again, and I had to rub my face with oil to remove it.

Tl;dr is buy this stuff. In all the colors. If they started making purples and black, I'd rename my firstborn "Stila".

    1. you really should. The price tag is crazy, but this stuff is no joke. There are all sorts of colors too, if you aren't into blood red.

    1. I picked it up during a 40% off sale. Stila is definitely one to watch for those...but I still say this is worth it.
