Halloween Ikat

After two+ years of blogging, it starts to get tricky to find things/think up things you haven't tried before. But, if you look, there are loads of things out there. Today is an exercise in trying new things. I have admired the ikat manicure a thousand and four times, but for reasons I have never actually tried it. Until today. And lemme tell you, I am sorry I waited this long.

Colors Used
Orly Cherry Bomb
Sinful Colors Let's Talk
China Glaze Liquid Leather
Sally Hansen nail art pens in black and white

It is deceptively easy to do, and messy-person friendly. I will definitely be doing this more than a few times in the future. It has a major visual impact, and definitely never looks the same twice. I love it. Completely aside from the fact that I love and adore ikat pattern. I keep hoping that it will fall out of fashion so I can score a giant ikat rug for my house for cheap. (Does that make me a reverse hipster?)

I picked these colors because they are traditionally Halloweeny. I even think the finished design looks like monster eyes a bit. But mostly, I like the colors and the design. Halloween doesn't have to be tombstones and zombies all the time. I mean, yeah, that shit is awesome! It's just nice to take a little break now and again.

So what is the verdict? Is this Halloweeny enough or should I have saved it for November? I honestly couldn't decide one way or the other. I just know that I love it.

    1. Thanks, I do too! It was very touch-and-go for a bit, but the finished product was worth all the trouble.
