-That- Announcement

[Originally published on 6/4/15. Moved to top of front page.]

Ever have to say something so big that you don't know how to start, so you just blurt it out awkwardly?  This is how you blurt visually...with monsters, party hats, and...well...

Awkward enough?

Pretty Girl Science turns three today!  It's been an amazing time.  We've learned a ton, met terrific people, and developed our own blogging styles.  Now it's time to take that to the next level!

Back in the very first PGS post I said "Our styles are overlapping, but far from the same."  That's probably truer now than it's ever been.  Having it all in one place doesn't seem like enough anymore.  I'm so excited to introduce you to two new blogs!

Nichole's new home, Bedlam Beauty, is clean and bright, with her softer aesthetic and focus on indie brands.

Mine is Some Weird Sin.  Still mostly about drugstore brands, vintage polish, and 'offbeat' makeup.

I can't say I'm not a little sad to see the end of PGS.  You readers are the best and I hope you'll come along with us as we move forward.  Bedlam Beauty and Some Weird Sin don't officially launch until Monday, but you can already follow both on Bloglovin'.  Please do!  I've been awful about replying to comments on here, but SWS has Disqus, which actually works on this computer!  Woohoo!

A PGS blogaversary wouldn't be complete without out a dose of sentimental mush, would it?  I have to thank Nichole for the millionth time for joining me, pushing me, pulling me, and inspiring me.

Nichole, you're the closest thing I've ever had to a big sister and I'll always look up to you.  I probably wouldn't have kept blogging for six months without you.  Everything I am as a blogger, I am because you told me I could do it.  I can't wait to see Bedlam Beauty take off!  I hope it's everything you've ever wanted from blogging.  You started out good and now you're a fucking star!

There's one last PGS post coming up tomorrow, but the site itself isn't going anywhere.  All of the swatches, reviews, nail art, etc. will still be here if you need them.

  1. I started my nail polish adventure with you guys just over 2 years ago. You have helped me so much with your swatching and learning about nail art. You ladies were my number 1 go to for nail polish advise. You don't know how many hours I stalked around Walgreens checking your reviews before purchasing what amounts to 100's of bottles of polish. I am sorry to see Pretty Girl Science disband but also excited to see you on your new adventures. Thank you for your dedication.

    1. I know people say corny stuff when things end...and I hate it. But this "is just the beginning"! No really. I am so excited to see what Amanda is going to do now.

    2. Thank you! Don't worry, I'll still be buying and swatching all of the same Sinful Colors (and the rest of my usual brands) as ever on my new blog.

It's a humbling and overwhelming feeling to know that you do with our posts exactly what I've done in drugstores for years. Part of the reason I started swatching SC is that almost no one else did at the time. It was frustrating not being able to find reviews, so I did some myself.

  2. I'm sad to see the end of Pretty Girl Science, but it would be sooooo much worse if one or both of you wouldn't be blogging at all anymore! Super happy to see that you'll both still be at it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be following both of you in your new endeavors!

    1. you have no idea what your support has meant to us these past years...one of our big worries is that people might think we were abandoning blogging all together...and we definitely arent doing that!

    2. Thank you! I'll be posting less than Nichole, but that's already been the case for months.

  3. First, I'll address both of you:
CONGRATULATIONS! Three years is a huge deal and your commitment is admirable. Pretty Girl Science is by far my favorite blog out there. Both of your swatches are fantastic and you've grown so much throughout the years. Your opinions are awesome because you're so honest. No sugarcoating here! The unique strangeness of your blog is part of what I love about it. I'll miss PGS, but I'm so excited to see happens next.

    Nichole--
As I said to you when I accidentally stumbled upon Bedlam Beauty a few weeks ago, I'm sad to see PGS go, but I can't wait to see what your new blogs will bring. Your color style matches mine pretty well; all or nothing, neons or neutrals! You've accomplished so much in these three years and now you're an official swatcher! Whaaaat?! Can't wait to check BB every day!

    Amanda--
Can I just say that I LOVE what you do! Your quirky posts are completely out of the ordinary and I love it. Your new ovalmond shape is giving me complete nail envy, and damn girl, I wish I could wear pinks that you pull off (lol, I'll be curious to see whether your pinkhate fades. My money is on "no"...)

Thanks so much for three years of hilarity, devotion, and friendship, guys! Good luck!

    1. its time. Really. Plus...this is the fastest way to world domination. One day, you will be thanking your formerly PGS overlords.

    2. It's mostly because we've been going off in two different directions as far as content and aesthetics for a pretty long time now. Things were starting to feel disjointed. My first post on my new blog will explain more on my end. I wanted this to be a happy farewell and some of my personal stuff seemed a bit gloomy.

  6. I only found y'all in October, but since then PGS has been a mandatory daily stop on my web browsing. I'm going to miss coming here, but I'm SO glad you'll both still be blogging! Can't wait to see what's next!

    2. Don't think for a second that we won't both be doing plenty of spooky shit this October. ;) Halloween is still the favorite holiday for both of us. I already have ideas and it's only June. lol

  7. Congratulations to both of you! I love your stylez and can't wait to continue reading your offshoots. Pretty Girl Science has been such a cool discovery for me this past year of my burgeoning nail polish obsession. I've loved reading back over old posts and I love the "yin and yang" you two provide. May the road rise to meet you, and may the wind be ever at your virtual backs!
