OPI Nordic - My Picks

 purchased by me

When Ulta had a Buy Two, Get One Free sale on OPI I decided to limit myself to just three from the Nordic collection.  That was tough!  I'd been eyeing the display at Wegmans and was tempted by so many of the shades.  No surprise really, since I pretty much always love OPI's fall collections.  The sale is back on at Ulta (through 12/24), so if the nail supply still doesn't have this collection the next time I visit, I might have to order from Ulta's site again.  [I might also stop going to the nail supply, if it turns out they aren't stocking new OPI collections anymore.]  I'm pleased with the three I got, but I'm pining for the fjords a few I skipped.  My Dogsled Is A Hybrid tops that list, but Going My way Or Norway is up there too.  But enough about what I didn't get.  Let's see these swatches already...

Ice-bergers And Fries is a chocolaty brown cream.

My unexpected favorite!  I knew I'd like it, especially since it gives me another option for work manis, but I didn't think I'd love it as much as I do.  I've worn it twice in just a few weeks.  It's perfect for a SFW fall mani.  This is two coats and the formula is as perfect as most OPI creams.  It's a touch darker on the nail than in the bottle.

Do You Have This Color In Stock-holm? is a bold blue-toned purple.

slightly less blue in person

Some day I'll own a camera that takes accurate photos of purple polish.  A girl can dream, right?  While it smells like blue (you know what I mean), it's not quite as blue in person as it looks in my photo.  The formula's a little odd though.  It's somewhat watery and I needed three coats for sure coverage

My Voice Is A Little Norse has tiny silver and silver holo glitter in a gray tinted base.

over Do You Have This Color In Stock-holm?

Like In True Stefani Fashion, I'm not really sure if I should be wearing this one over another polish or on its own.  This is two coats over Stock-holm, so I'm thinking 4-ish on its own.  I've looked at other people's photos and the swatch cards in stores and I just can't see myself wearing it like that.  The base is too sheer.  I might try it over a gray cream or jelly though.  As you might guess, it takes a lot of topcoat to smooth it out.  I used 4-ish coats of topcoat here and I'm still not confident that it wouldn't get bumpy again as it dries.

Bottom line: I lovelovelove Ice-Bergers And Fries!  Do You Have This Color In Stock-holm is pretty, but the formula isn't up to the usual OPI standards.  My Voice Is A Little Norse is gritty, but the sparkle payoff is good.

Did you get anything from this collection?  I feel like I'm the last blogger to post about it.

  1. I see you're rocking your stilettos again! Your claws are too cool. When I saw other people's swatches describe Do You Have This Color in Stock-holm? as a blurple I got excited and picked it up. Upon application, however, I discovered that it's just a cool-toned vivid purple. Sigh. Still really pretty though! I also got My Dogsled is a Hybrid which is GORGEOUS and With a Nice Finn-ish, which I used not ten minutes ago. Your swatches are the best! I posted my picks on my blog if you want to check it out! http://nailsniche.blogspot.com/2014/11/opi-fall-2014-nordic-collection.html?m=1
