Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

My beautiful friend Sarah, who provided me with an epic nail haul from the UK, also got me a bottle of Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. Watching youtube videos made me lust after this stuff something fierce. I figured it was just one of those things I would never get to try, seeing as Bourjois doesn't sell here in the states (though you can get it online). But thankfully my lovely friend found a bottle for me, and sent it right over!

So let's start with a bare face. Nothing but Shiseido sunscreen and Nourish Organic facial lotion. Try not to be too scared, guys.

Before. Ugh

Thanks be to makeup!

My Thoughts

This stuff has a lot more cover than I am used to. I am not sure if that is because I'm using a proper beauty blender (as opposed to my knock-off) or if its actually a fuller cover foundation. I chose the shade vanilla, and it is a breath too dark for me. I'm not sure if anyone else sees the color problem though. My brain is weird that way.

It also has a LOT of fragrance, more so than any foundation I've used in a long while. I am not a great fan of my face smelling like flowers...that just seems weird. Thankfully, the smell doesn't linger too long. Its definitely of the "burn your eyes" strength right out of the bottle.

It applies evenly and smoothly, with no real difficulty in blending it in to my skin. It dries to a nice demi-matte finish, which I like. I'm a child of the 90s, I like matte skin. Dewy just looks greasy to me. Five hours later, and it is still really nice looking. It hasn't faded or separated, and my blush/contour/cheek disaster still looks fresh and happy. It's not as matte as it was when first applied, but it definitely doesn't need any blotting. So far, so good!

My only complaint is that my skin does feel a bit dry. It might be because I've been using the Nourish Organic lotion I got from my January Ipsy bag. It's a super light lotion, and I might need a slight bit more moisture. This is actually good news for people who don't have dry skin. I think this stuff would actually work really well for them.

So the Tl;dr is that if you can get your hands on it, definitely grab it. It will work for a range of skin types, and if you are in the UK, it's pretty affordable.

And now, more pictures.

  1. Looking good! I'm glad it was a (near enough) match! I never noticed a smell when I used it but I do know their blushes smell like a rose garden.

    1. one of my pet peeves is scent in cosmetic products. Stuff like chocolate scented bronzer or lipstick is ok...but floral scents are just wrong.
