Radical Alcohol Marble

I'm an 80's child. I wore neon on the regular. I crimped my hair. I had L.A. Gear sneakers. Basically, I was as cool as legally allowed. Because of the era I grew up in, tacky neons have a place near-and-dear to my heart. Every time they come back into fashion, I gleefully rub my hands together and go hunting for the perfect bright accessory. We are currently (sadly) in the trough of the never ending neon ocean, so I had to make do.

This is actually the first time I've managed to get the alcohol marble to work on all of my fingers. When this technique first made a splash, I gave it a tester on a few fingers and it worked flawlessly. I forgot about it for a while, because shiny things, and then tried it again. I couldn't get it to go! I think it might have been the polishes I was trying to use, because the neons did less-well than the white cream here (sadly). The white turned out so smashingly that I am actually ok with how poorly the neons behaved. It really turned out better than I could have hoped.

Colors Used:
China Glaze Liquid Leather
OPI Alpine Snow
China Glaze Rose Among Thorns
China Glaze I'm With the Lifeguard

Now that I have (re)discovered this, I definitely have a few plans for this technique. Of course, it will be applied over a gradient at some point...how could I not?

    1. Yes, which I was also going to say is way more 80's than Swift's new album but then I saw this: https://www.facebook.com/TaylorSwift/photos/a.113530295368.91862.19614945368/10152562717285369/?type=1&relevant_count=1

And figured- New York, 1980's, Oliver and Company....it was coming full circle

  3. You're not a true 80s kid unless you had a color changing tshirt or other apparel. :P No joke, I want leggings that look like your nails. Who can I bug to get on that?! I don't know what my problem is, I can't get alcohol marbles to work lately. :/ Maybe I need more alcohol in me? LOL.

    1. Always add more booze. Always.

I never had a hypercolor shirt :( They were expensive, and my mom refused to buy one. As an adult, I desperately want one.

    2. I was so jealous when my older sister (who had paper route money, i.e. a job and a car and was so much cooler than me!) bought herself a hypercolor shirt. I used to go into her closet and look at it!

On the subject of nails, haha, I really do need to figure out something to use for the alcohol spray, because lately nothing is working. What do you use?

    3. I used a tiny hand sanitizer spray I picked up at CVS. I've read that it works with regular 70% alcohol and hair spray too.
