Two from China Glaze All Aboard

 purchased by me

I've been awaiting the arrival of China Glaze's All Aboard collection ever since I saw the first CosmoProf sneak peeks over the summer.  My excitement was derailed when I found out that my local-ish nail supply won't be carrying new China Glaze collections anymore.  Phooey.  It's not just that I have to pay more now, but China Glaze fall, Halloween, and xmas collections fly right off the shelves at Sally Beauty stores near me.  I don't think I've ever seen a full display for those seasons.  I headed to a nearby Sally thinking I'd buy Choo-Choo Choose You and Lug Your Designer Baggage.  No luck on the latter.  I wound up getting Mind The Gap instead.  I might have to resort to eBay for Baggage and also Boundary Of Memory from the Giver collection.  Harumph.  So like my Sally Hansen Designer Collection post last week, there's a "...to be continued?" hovering over this post.

Mind The Gap is a slightly green-toned tan with gold shimmer and green microfleck.

Maybe it's for the best that Sally was out of Lug Your Designer Baggage, because I really like Mind The Gap.  I'm not sure if I'd have bought it otherwise.  It's on the watery side, and needed three coats for opacity, but it's right on that funky-yet-work-safe borderline.  It gets massive points for that!

The leathery look is enhanced even more by matte topcoat.

Choo-Choo Choose You has a deep gray-purple base with a red/gold/green shifting shimmer.

This was the one from this collection that I had to have.  It lived up to my hopes!  I can't think of another shade in my collection quite like it and it really stands out.  The shift isn't crazy like the "ultra-chromes", but there's still something very pleasing about a softer shift.  Its formula is decidedly thin too, but only took two coats to build up.

Like a lot of polishes with this type of shift, I swear I almost see blue at the farthest extremes.

It's one of those semi-subtle shifts that makes me want to wiggle my fingers for hours.

Usually I go nuts all over again when I mattify shifty shades.  Not this time.  Something kinda gets lost, I think.

Bottom line: I'd recommend both, but I think Choo-Choo Choose You is a must-have...especially if you're a fan of The Simpsons.  This is the first time The Beard has ever really liked a polish shade name.

If you buy China Glaze online, what's your favorite supplier?  I'm still so bummed about the nail supply thing.  *grumble*

  1. I have the same issues trying to find China Glaze so I buy mine from head2toebeauty.com! Shipping, for me at least, is about $4 and only takes a few days. The very best part? The CG polishes are only $3.25 :D

  2. I buy quite a bit from transdesign.com, and thinking of getting some from head2toebeauty.com too. I can vouch for transdesign.com for sure. Been ordering from them for a few years now, and only one broken bottle, which they quickly replaced. Great prices and well-stocked.
