Liebster Award!

I only just started our twitter last month, but the polish blog girls on there are so awesome!  Radha of The Polish Owl is one of the best and she nominated us for a Liebster Award!  [Yes, Nichole, it's a major award!]  She's been one of the most welcoming of the many lovely Twitter polish girls and this was so nice of her!  Thanks, Radha!

The Liebster Awards are a fun way to give new or lesser-known blogs a leg up and get to know bloggers in the process.  I'm not sure who started it, but it's such a sweet idea!

The rules for participating are:
- You must post 11 things about yourself.
- You must answer the 11 questions the ‘tagger’ has set for you.
- You must create 11 more questions to ask bloggers you have decided to tag.
- You must then choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers and tag them in your post.
- These lucky bloggers must then be told.
- There are no tag backs.

11 Things about us - by me, but about both of us
  1. Nichole and I met in early '01...'02?...something around there.
  2. We met in the forum for a site called SimSisters, a custom content site for The Sims
  3. Nichole used to say (all of the time) that she could kick my ass because she's older than me...by two years...and bigger than me...by maybe an inch!
  4. When we met, our lives were pretty similar...we were both still with our high school boyfriends, working part-time in retail, playing The Sims, etc.  How times have changed! lol
  5. We're still a lot alike in general...until the sudden night-and-day differences...like our feelings about the color pink.
  6. We've done online projects together before.  Nichole was an occasional contributor to my custom content site for The Sims, Simage Homes.  Then for Sims 2 I contributed to her site, Devil Kitty Sims.
  7. When Nichole's first kid was born, I sent a bunch of baby stuff...including this. (if you skipped it, get back there and look...cuteness!)
  8. Nichole is the online friend I've kept in touch with the longest...by like two-three years more than the next longest.  10-11 years is forever in internet years.
  9. This blog was originally just gonna be me, but when Nichole wanted in I was like "YES!!!"
  10. I pestered Nichole HARD to start watching Breaking Bad...and now I'm pestering her to catch up already!  ...and she's tried to get me to watch True Blood, but I haven't yet.
  11. We WILL meet in person, some day!  WE WILL, dammit!  Stupid whole continent, being in the way...

Answers to Radha's questions:
  1. What is your holy grail hand/cuticle care product?
A- Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream. I used it back in high school when my mother and I would drive out to Amish Country to get it...and I don't know why I ever stopped. It's all-natural and the slim tin is perfectly pocket-sized.
n- I think it would be The Body Shop's Vitamin E hand lotion. I've been using it for probably 10 years, and I don't think I can live without it.
  2. What is a nail polish color you most often reach for?
    A- Silver...I think own 24 of them!
n- Probably black, when I'm not feeling inspired.
  3. How often do you change your nail polish?
A- My swatchathons can be 5 or more in a row in the same day...but my right hand? 2-3 times a week.
n-  About once a week, on average. I paint my nails after the monsters have gone to bed, and somedays I just don't have the heart for it...or the energy.
  4. Do you prefer short or long nails for photos?
A- Nichole and I have different ideas, but the same name. (she answered first) "Sport length", *just* past the fingertip.
n- I like a length I call "sport length". It's long enough that it looks feminine, but short enough that you can still zip up your pants.
  5. Do you have any special tips or tricks for healthier/longer nails?
A- Moisturize!!!  Before bed, after removing polish, and throughout the day! ...and keep them painted.  Mine only ever seem to break when they're naked.
n- I take a biotin supplement everyday for my hair and nails. It seems to help, because my nails grow out-of control nowadays.
  6. What are some colors/finishes you’re afraid to try?
A- NO PINK!!! (unless it's sheer for layering)
n- I'll try anything...if the man lets me buy it.
  7. What is your favorite type of Coffee?
A- *gag*  ....french mocha ice cream?  I don't like the smell of coffee, but the taste is ok in other things.
    n- Kona!
  8. What is your signature scent?
A- I'm not much of a perfume girl. It makes me sneeze. :( I own a bunch, but I don't know where they are since we moved....in March. Shows how often I wear it.  The only designer scent I own is Gucci Rush.  I usually prefer simpler blends.
n- I have about four that I rotate out lately, so I dunno if I can pick one. My favorite is Infusion d'Iris by Prada, but that might change at any moment.
  9. What is your favorite smell in the world?
A- Brie cheese.  My favorite brie smells like it was wrapped in old newspapers in a damp (but not wet) basement on a shelf about shoulder-height.  That sounds like it would be awful, but it's heaven.
n- baking bread! I love how the whole house smells when we make our own bread.
  10. How often do you change your toe nail polish?
A- Not often, every few weeks?  I have really ugly feet....it's like lipstick on a pig.
n- maybe monthly? I don't really wear polish on my toes until fall, when its warm enough here to not wear socks/slippers.
  11. How many polishes do you own?
A- 397 on my spreadsheet, but I have numerous backups and stuff for frankening...probably 525+ total
n- about 110, including minis and stripers.

Our questions:
  1. What's your favorite time of day?
  2. If you could travel to any time/place, where would you go?
  3. What's your all-time favorite cartoon tv show?
  4. If you had to eat the same thing for lunch every day for six months, what would you choose?
  5. Do you have a favorite museum/library/zoo/botanical garden?
  6. Easy one - what's your favorite polish brand?
  7. If your favorite type of music was a shade of polish, what would it be?
  8. ....and would you wear it?
  9. Do you own a shade of polish that matches your car/bicycle/city bus/transportation?
  10. What's the most you ever spent on one bottle of polish?
  11. What inspired you to start blogging?

I'm tagging these blogs:
Looking forward to your answers and questions, girls!  And thanks again, Radha!

  4. "...When we met, our lives were pretty similar...we were both still with our high school boyfriends,..." Hey...I'm still with the highschool boyfriend. Though I married him, because having a boyfriend at my age is kinda silly. Especially since we have two kids now.
